12.21.17 – (LAA/LUS) – Pay Protection for Lost Time Due to Pilot Scheduling Error

APFA is aware of the concerns many Flight Attendants have about pilot staffing over the next several days and has been communicating with the Company about pay protection for Flight Attendants.

Although the Company maintains that current open time is in line with what they would expect over the holiday period, and they have full confidence that flights will be fully staffed, APFA has been pushing hard for a Letter of Agreement (LOA) to secure pay protections for Flight Attendants who could potentially lose time as a direct result of the pilot scheduling error.

The Company has stated publicly that pay protections will be provided; however, it is unwilling to agree to a LOA until lost time has actually occurred, as is currently the process for storms and natural disasters.

Make no mistake, as communicated in a November hotline, APFA Flight Attendants will not suffer pay loss created by this situation that is well outside their control; and, APFA is fully prepared to demand that any Flight Attendant who is harmed be made whole.

Please be assured that APFA is closely monitoring the situation and tracking flights in the event any are affected by the scheduling error.
