2.01.18 – (LAA/LUS) – In Memory of USAir Flight 1493 and SkyWest Flight 5569

Twenty-seven years ago today, USAir Flight 1493 and SkyWest Flight 5569 collided on the runway at Los Angeles International airport when the SkyWest turboprop was cleared to taxi into takeoff position on the same runway where the USAir Boeing 737 was cleared to land.Tragically, all 12 people aboard the SkyWest plane were killed, along with 23 people aboard the USAir jet, including lead Flight Attendant Deanna Bethea and Captain Colin Shaw.Our hearts and minds are with all the victims and their families today as we honor the crews of both flights:
