LRD Tool – PBS Bases

Beginning Monday, September 3rd, PBS-based Flight Attendants will have access to the Lineholder/Reserve Designator (LRD) tool to view your status (as Lineholder or Reserve) for the October 2018 bid month. You should view your October status in the LRD by logging into the new FA Crew Portal. (faportal.aa.com)

Note: If you bid onto Reserve out of your Regular Rotation (Senior Bump), it changes your future Reserve Rotation. A Flight Attendant who Senior Bumps and has more than three (3) vacation days in that bid month has not fulfilled their Reserve obligation. Also, if a Flight Attendant transfers to a base where her/his seniority places her/him in the Reserve duty group, she/he will be scheduled on Reserve the first full scheduling month that she/he is at the new base.

Lineholder/Reserve Designator (LRD) Tool Guide

Opens: Monday, September 3 @ Noon CT
Closes: Friday, September 7 @ Noon CT

Assignment Notification Prior to the Start of a RAP

In the event you electronically acknowledge your assignment prior to the start of your RAP, you have 2 hours (3 hours co-terminal) to arrive at the airport from the start of your RAP regardless of the report time of the sequence.

For example, your RAP starts at 1200, at 1100 you acknowledged a domestic sequence that was placed on your schedule with a report of 1315/departure of 1415. Since your RAP started at 1200, and you have 2 hours to arrive at the airport, you would need to be at the airport at 1400.

JCBA 12.G.3. (pg 12-8)Flight Attendants may be assigned sequences or Standby shifts that report within a RAP prior to the start of the RAP.  At the commencement of a RAP, Flight Attendants are responsible for reviewing and acknowledging all assignments through the automated system.

Note: A Flight Attendant is never obligated to answer her/his phone or electronically acknowledge an assignment prior to the beginning of a RAP.

Reserve – Illegal Modified RAP Assignment

Q: Can I contact Crew Schedule to be removed from an illegal modified RAP assignment?
A: Yes, if you did not have a future bid for a RAP in ROTA, yet you are assigned a modified RAP based off of you standing bid, you can call for a removal.

Cabin ASAP

The American Airlines Cabin Aviation Safety Action Program (Cabin ASAP) is designed for Flight Attendants to report and the Company to identify and correct specific problems related to safety at American Airlines (AA).

The objective of the ASAP Program is to promote safety. The means by which we accomplish this objective are by identifying cabin safety concerns and achieving corrective solutions.

The program provides a voluntary, cooperative, remedial and non-punitive environment for the open self-reporting of cabin safety concerns. Through such reporting, all parties will have access to valuable information that may not otherwise be obtainable. This information will be analyzed in order to help solve safety issues and hopefully eliminate violations of 14 CFR.

See the Cabin ASAP section of the APFA Safety and Security Page for more information about the program, such as the acceptance criteria.

Real Wage Index

Are you feeling the pinch when your paycheck comes in? Well, a lot of people are feeling the same way! This newly released information may help explain it. Despite reports of record low unemployment and a soaring economy, real wages have actually fallen since 2006 for the middle class by 9.3%. The economy only truly works when it works for everyone.

Since 2006, wages have risen 12.9 percent overall in the US. But when you factor in inflation, “real wages” have actually fallen 9.3 percent. In other words, the income for a typical worker today buys them less than it did in 2006. The PayScale Real Wage Index incorporates the Consumer Price Index (CPI) into The PayScale Index (which tracks nominal wages) and looks at the buying power of wages for full-time private industry workers in the U.S.

APFA Government Affairs will be evaluating candidates over the next few weeks on several key issues. We will back candidates who we believe are supporting workers’ rights and fighting for a strong middle class—the backbone of America!

First, find out now if you are registered to vote. If not, get registered and get ready to vote this November. Your future and your job depend on it!

– Allie Malis, APFA National Government Affairs Representative, [email protected]
