9.12.18 – (LAA/LUS) – Hurricane Florence

American is closely monitoring Hurricane Florence, which is impacting several communities they serve this week, including Charlotte. Our thoughts are with those who are in the path of this potentially damaging hurricane.

Hurricane watches will likely be issued for portions of the region and the North Carolina coast beginning Thursday evening and into the weekend. The current forecast is showing Hurricane Florence as a Category 4 Hurricane, with winds currently at 115 knots, and is 450 miles off the coast of Wilmington, NC. We know the hurricane can and may change its course. Even if that happens, areas will still receive a great deal of rain, high winds and potential flooding. Charlotte anticipates 5-8 inches of rain, with the heaviest rainfall occurring Saturday evening into Sunday.

HURRICANE FLORENCE INFORMATION

Updated: 12 p.m. CT, Sept. 12

AIRPORT OPERATIONS

Resumption of service at airports will be based on airport and roadway conditions.
