LUS Alignment at FOI –  Caregiver Family Medical Leave Act

Today, October 1, 2018, LUS Flight Attendants will be aligned with all other employees under the current AA policy when using Caregiver FMLA to take care of qualifying family member as detailed in Section 25, Leave of Absence (25F-2). Any Caregiver FMLA absences in process prior to October 1, 2018, will be grandfathered under the former LUS policy of the absence being unpaid.

Effective October 1, 2018, all LUS Flight Attendants with Caregiver FMLA will be required to use accrued vacation concurrently for their qualified absence(s) when caring for an eligible family member with a serious health condition. You will be charged vacation hours at the time of recode and will be able to choose which days to be used when you call the Flight Attendant Service Center.

Flight Attendants will need to contact the FMLA-Desk at the Flight Attendant Service Center at 1-800-VIP-CREW #6, Option 2, or at [email protected] within two days of returning to work following the absence needing the recode.

Currently, all LUS bases will fall under Section 8, Vacation as following: SECTION 8: VACATIONS B. VACATION PAY AND CREDIT (8-1). Vacation days bid in the annual vacation process in blocks of seven (7) or more consecutive days will be paid and credited at four (4) hours per day at the Flight Attendant’s rate of pay. Vacation days in blocks of less than seven (7) consecutive days will be paid and credited at three and one-half (3.5) hours per day. Vacation pay and credit shall be based on a Flight Attendant’s longevity at the time the vacation is taken.
