What Happens Now?

When reporting an issue to the Scheduling and Contract Desk or when completing a Systems Issues Form, your issue is researched and forwarded to the AA FOI team. The FOI team logs these issues for review by the appropriate departments to investigate and respond.

After an issue has been resolved by the corresponding department, a member of the FOI team or FABRC contacts the Flight Attendant to share their findings.  If you have been contacted by the FOI team or FABRC regarding a report and are not satisfied with the results, contact APFA Contract Dept for additional follow up.Remember to include your employee number and Run ID number with all inquiries.

We Did it Before, We Can Do it Again!

Last week, I updated the Board of Directors regarding Member Mobilization. For the past several weeks, I have been working with base volunteer mobilization representatives to organize the November 18 System-Wide Picket commemorating the 25th anniversary of APFA’s historic 1993 strike.  Stay tuned for details.

Non-Smoking

The Hotel Department has seen an increase in the number of reports of crew members smoking in non-smoking rooms.
In addition to the costs associated with cleaning these rooms, those who are smoking in a non-smoking room are also affecting their fellow Flight Attendants who may be assigned that same room, as well as damaging the relationship with a hotel that we enjoy!
Thank you for not Smoking in your Non-Smoking Room!

Workers’ Comp (IOD) with Long Term Disability

LTD is only available to those who have LTD coverage.  Short-term disability does not cover work related injuries. Always file your LTD as soon as possible.  There is a one-year filing deadline from the date of disability.  LTD information is in the Health and Benefits page on jetnet. LTD benefits begin at the end of 4 months of continuous disability if your sick bank is depleted and you are not receiving salary continuance or when your six-month salary continuance has ended, and your sick bank is depleted.

If your LTD claim is approved, you will receive a minimum benefit if you are also receiving Workers’ Compensation benefits. If you are no longer receiving Workers’ Compensation pay, LTD benefits are based on 50% of the Flight Attendants’ guaranteed base pay.
LTD benefits are non-taxed.

Delayed?

Notification of a Delay (JCBA 10.J.11.a):
If you have already left for the airport and it is less than 3 hours to departure and you get a call from Crew Schedule notifying you of a delay, your duty day still begins at the original report time. A Mobile CCI notification does not replace a call from Crew Schedule.  If you have not received a call from Crew Schedule you will need to advise them you want your original report time.

When Can I Train? What if I go QI?

Flight Attendants may complete the CQ WBT 60 days prior to their base month, which will remain good through the end of their grace month. If a Flight Attendant is placed in a QI status, the WBT will have to be redone and completed the month she/he attends CQ, in addition to the While You Were Away WBT course.

Mis-Awards

If you believe you have a mis-award, do not participate in TTS or make changes with ETB until you have received confirmation of a mis-award as you cannot make yourself illegal for any mis-award remedy. After receiving confirmation of a mis-award, follow the instructions provided and input the “like” trip parameters in the next available TTS run. The confirmed mis-award may not necessarily be determined prior to the first TTS run.

You only need to participate in one TTS run after a confirmed mis-award to be pay protected.
