Proration of Days off for Lineholders and Reserves with 7 or More Days of Vacation

Remember, when you have 7 or more days of vacation and bidding in PBS, your days off are prorated.

For example, you are a lineholder next month and have 7 days of vacation and 9 prorated days off. Your total days off is 16, yet if you would like to fly high time this month you may need to Waive Minimum Days Off property in order to hold the Target Credit Range (TCR) you prefer.

If you are a reserve Flight Attendant and have 7 days of vacation, you will have an additional 9 days off while on reserve. This may affect your requested days off when bidding in PBS.

Avoid Aircraft Property

This property excludes pairings that operate (flight or deadhead) on the specified aircraft. When you use this property it will exclude any pairings with at least one segment on that aircraft. Remember when using this generic property, if you add it to a layer with specific pairing bids it will add all pairings that do not have that aircraft.

If you are not qualified on an aircraft, you do not need to use the property Avoid Aircraft.

Always check your Layer tab and your pairing pools to verify your bids in each layer are what you were trying to achieve in that layer. You can view the pairings in each layer by clicking View Pairing Set.

Work Block Defaults

In PBS, a work block is the number of consecutive working days. This could mean multiple pairings awarded back to back. If you do not choose to use the Work Block Size property, the default work block is 1- 6 days.

The default between work blocks is a minimum of 1 off day if the days between work blocks property is not used. If you increase the number of days off in subsequent layers this becomes more restrictive.

In general, when using line properties in subsequent layers they should become less restrictive to allow more pairings into your pairing pool.
