Another Remember to November!

A big “thank you” to the thousands of our Flight Attendants who were joined by our sisters and brothers from other unions to participate in physical and virtual picket lines on November 18. It was a huge Nation-wide Success!

On November 19th, the Allied Pilots Association provided notice to American that they will open negotiations in January 2019.

APFA has pledged its support to stand in unity with APA as we both share the goals of achieving an industry-changing agreement and the restoration of pride in working for the world’s largest airline.

Survey

The Negotiating Committee met again this week to finalize the membership survey, which will go live next week and remain available for a total of three weeks. The results of the survey will be confidential and provide the guidance your team needs for negotiating our next contract. This is a preliminary survey and will cover a broad content. You will be surveyed throughout this process and your feedback is crucial.

If you wish to be considered for a transfer, be sure to update your transfer preferences (3*) in FOS. Transfers will be processed on November 26, 2018 for both Vacancy (effective 31JAN19) and Mutual (effective 01JAN19).

If you are out on a sick call (not a leave) during the transfer list capture and you will be available on the effective date of the transfer, you will still be considered for the transfer.

Job Well Done!

On a recent flight from CLT to DFW, the crew experienced an onboard medical emergency. I want to take the time this week to recognize and thank them for their actions. Each member of the crew handled this emergency as the onboard safety professional they are. Because of their quick thinking and training, a potentially life-threatening emergency was averted.

Social Security Disability Benefits

Flight Attendants with LTD benefits are required to apply Social Security Disability within 6 months of when the LTD claim is approved.
Flight Attendants without LTD coverage may also apply for Social Security Disability.  SSDI eligibility is normally based on 12 months continuous disability.

Social Security benefits are taxed as income only if you or your spouse earned taxable income.
