Beneficiary Check Up

As we wind down 2018, it is always a good idea to review your current beneficiaries. Simply visit the Benefits Service Center via Jetnet, look for Resources (middle right side) and choose Select a Beneficiary. From the Beneficiary Summary page, you can review and/or change your current selections.

When a Worker’s Compensation Physician Addresses a Work Status

While on an IOD, a worker’s compensation physician must address a work status to the insurance company and American.
Sedgwick and American are aware that Light Duty is not an option for Flight Attendants. Light duty and restricted duty means a Flight Attendant will remain off work until the doctor releases you to full duty without restrictions.

New House Leadership

Members of Congress are already preparing for the new session beginning in January. With the change of control in the House of Representatives, committee chairs are yet to be decided by the Democrats. The Republicans, however, have already selected Rep. Sam Graves (MO-6) to serve as Ranking Member on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. It is expected that Ranking Member DeFazio (OR-4) will be Chairman of T&I.

The GOP also selected Rep. Kay Granger (TX-12) to become the top Republican on the powerful Appropriations panel, with Rep. Nita Lowey (NY-17) expected to assume the Chair. It would be the first time that the Appropriations committee was led by two women. APFA Government Affairs looks forward to working with the new House leadership.

Lineholder-Reserve Designator (LRD) Tool Reminder

The LRD tool (on Crew Portal) can be used to change your status to lineholder or reserve each month prior to PBS opening for the following month.

Beginning at 1200 (noon) DFW time on the 3rd of every month, you should view your (next month) status in the LRD by logging into Crew Portal. The LRD closes on the 7th of every month DFW time.

Lineholder status
If your status indicates you’re a lineholder and you want to remain a lineholder, no action is required unless you want to bid on to reserve (senior bump). To bid on to reserve, using the tool, you should toggle your LRD status to “RSV”.

Reserve status
If your status indicates you’re a reserve and you want to remain a reserve, no action is required unless you want to bid off of reserve. To bid off of reserve, using the tool, you should toggle your LRD status to “L/H”.

Tentative status
If your status indicates Tentative, it means you may be needed as a reserve. The default designation in LRD will be “L/H”, so if you want to bid on to reserve, you should toggle your LRD status to “RSV”.

Note: If no VLOAs are being offered in a particular month, no one will be designated as “Tentative”.

As a reminder it is very important to check your final status when PBS opens on the 10th. Please review your status on your PBS dashboard. If you have any questions or concerns related to your status in LRD or PBS please email us at [email protected]
