APFA Health has been notified about a new improvement the company voluntarily made to the Post-Pregnancy Maternity Short-Term Disability Plan’s eligibility requirement.

The company modified the plan eligibility rule to Date of Hire. This change means that everyone will now be eligible at date of hire and applies to deliveries on or after 1/1/2019.

If you are an expectant mother, please contact MetLife at 1-888-533-6287 to begin the claim process 60 days prior to your anticipated or expected due date.

“No Work, Follow-up with Your Doctor”

If you have been injured at work and need to go to an emergency room, please be sure to get a work status from the ER.
If the ER doctor does not feel that you can return to work, make sure it is noted on the discharge summary.

In some cases, the ER doctor may state “no work, follow up with your doctor.” Keep in mind, follow up must be a doctor who accepts workers’ compensation.

That’s MY Jumpseat – It’s Contractual

Q.  I heard the pilots want the ability to sit on our cabin jumpseats.  Is this true?

A. The pilots union (APA) has entered into negotiations with the company, and as part of their opening proposal, they are once again requesting use of our cabin jumpseat. While any work group is free to seek any gain they wish during negotiations, the use of the cabin jumpseat is cleary defined in Section 37.G of our JCBA. This language cannot be changed without membership ratification. The APFA has already made it clear that our cabin jumpseat is solely for Flight Attendant use.

Changes to KCM

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is implementing a revision to KCM and it’s requirements and regulations as of January 31st, 2019.

Any Flight Attendant that voluntarily chooses to participate in – and use – the KCM Program should be aware of the program rules which can be found on Known Crewmember website: http://www.knowncrewmember.org/

The TSA is adopting a standardized KCM rules violation sanctions program to ensure sanctions (program suspensions and civil penalties) for rule violations are handled consistently; some of which have changed significantly.  Please ensure you are aware of the requirements and changes if you choose to voluntarily participate in the KCM program.

116th Congress Announced

As Flight Attendants, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is typically most relevant to our legislative priorities. Congressman Peter DeFazio of Oregon will serve as Chairman while Congressman Sam Graves of Missouri will serve as the Ranking Member. Subcommittees have not yet been assigned to members. We are particularly excited that Congressman Colin Allred and Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, both from Texas, were appointed to T&I as well as Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.

Prefer to Fly Same Weekday (Cadence) All Month?

Prefer to work blocks that begin on the same weekday throughout the bid month? When selected, a drop down list will display from which a day of the week may be chosen (e.g., work blocks that begin every Monday). Cadence is an all or nothing line property; therefore, avoid bidding this property in your last layer. If PBS cannot build a legal line from a layer with this property, it will move to the next layer.

Any planned absence (e.g., vacation, SA days, CQ training, etc.) could affect your desired cadence and cadence will not be honored adjacent to the activity. Therefore, it is not recommended to use this property if you have planned absences that could conflict with the cadence bid. Instead, consider bidding pairing ID on date and/or days off to set your desired cadence. For example, you have CQ on a Wednesday at the beginning of the month. If you use this property because you would like to fly each of the following Wednesdays it would not award any of those trips and move to the next layer.

As of today, there have been 4,945 Flight Attendants who have filed uniform reaction reports.
