4.17.19 – Company’s Easter “Premium Pay” Violation
Wednesday, April 17, 2019
The Company has unilaterally made the decision to violate numerous sections of the JCBA to cover an inordinate amount of open time over the Easter weekend. Our legal team, APFA President & Vice President along with our Contract and Scheduling Chairs are reviewing the Company’s document and will consider actions to be taken.
The JCBA includes Red Flag language (Section 10.H) that provides pay at 150% to address these types of situations. The Company previously made the decision not to program TTS to award Red Flag sequences. Because of their decision to only cover Red Flag sequences in UBL, the Company is circumventing JCBA Red Flag language. Their “Easter Premium Pay” simply “fits their needs” as it eliminates other flexibilities in Red Flag language.
APFA is not in agreement with the Company’s announcement of this “Premium Pay” solution. We demand that the Company adheres to the current Red Flag language so our members will have the full flexibility laid out in our contract when covering these critical trips.
