5.03.19 – Allocations Call Base Brief PHX

Greetings PHX FA’s!We would like to announce that we have created a Crew Planning and Allocations team for the PHX base!  The new team is tasked with reviewing the monthly sequences, participating on the monthly allocations call and providing feedback to the company regarding sequence construction, RSV headcount and line averages.

We recently had our monthly Crew Planning and Allocations call for the June bid month and would like to share some details with our PHX members.

We were successful at getting the company to reduce the percentage of 4 day trips in our base by 4% for June. The crew planning team indicated to us that their goal is to get that number down to 10% for July.  With that being said, we asked that once they get to 10%; they cap it at that percentage or lower.

Another issue discussed was the lengthy sit times during a sequence.  The company stated that they are intentionally building these long sit times when travelling through our 6 largest hubs (CLT, ORD, DFW, MIA, PHL and LAX) due to the fact that the optimizer software is programmed to keep a crew with an aircraft type all day and it’s simply not happening in actual operations.  The sit times are being built so when a last minute plane swap happens, it does not cause a delay.  Your Planning and Allocations team strongly disagreed with the company regarding this practice and will continue to fight for shorter ground time.

Lastly, we questioned our projected line average and RSV numbers.  Managing Director of Crew Planning, Sumit Batra has acknowledged our feedback and is willing to explore the options we presented.

The following is what to expect for the June 2019 bid period:

*1 day Sequence:  16.1%

*2 day Sequence:  33.8%

*3 day Sequence:  35.4%

*4 day Sequence:  14.7%
