Known Crew Member (KCM)  Update

Due to unannounced, and surprising, changes being made to KCM this weekend, we understand that the membership may have questions.

While we understand the frustration of all that are involved, please remember this is a voluntary program governed solely by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
Changes coming in the next few days will require enhanced and unpredictable additional screening /searches being conducted. Your compliance is required to avoid losing privileges and/or expulsion from the KCM Program.

Effective, tomorrow, August 27, 2019, an automated enhancement to Unpredictable Screening Procedures (USP) will be enabled. This enhancement will include retention of the crew member selection for USP for a period of time at all KCM access points in that airport.

NOTE: If the selected crew member exits the sterile area and attempts to reenter through a KCM access point during this time period, they will continue to be identified for USP.

Effective, Wednesday, August 28, 2019, KCM-authorized crew members will be required to wear uniforms while using KCM access points.

Anyone in the AOA (Airport Operations Area) is subject to additional screening at any time – without notice; Crew members are not exempt from this policy. Crew members that are not in uniform will be required to clear through the passenger screening areas, and are subject to the 3-1-1 liquid restrictions. Accessing the KCM Portal for personal international travel is still prohibited. Please be sure to visit the Prohibited Items List within the Q&A to ensure that you are in compliance with the program rules and expectations.

Some have asked about the alternative uniform pieces that are being worn by many crew members – there should be no impact for those wearing alternative pieces. Company insignia (wings, name tags), as well as your company Crew ID should be visible to the TSA Officer(s) to avoid any question or confusion. If you encounter any issues, please clear using the passenger screening areas or as directed by the TSA Officer(s).
