DFW Concerns

December has two schedule changes, much like November. The second schedule change kicks off the Holiday Schedule.  Many flights return and new destinations operate starting on 18DEC. Due to the increase in flying after the schedule change, some Flight Attendants may have minimal hours the first part of the month and maximum hours at the end of the month.  We encourage all Flight Attendants to stay informed via APFA national hotlines regarding PBS Bidding for December.

The base did see some improvements in pairings for December.  Sit/connect times continue to slowly decline from April highs when the company implemented the 80-minute minimum sit/connect guidelines.  We are pleased to see progress, but continued improvements are needed. NIPD flying has some new destinations and layovers; GYE, UIO and SKB just to name a few.

Long duty days and short layovers continue to be addressed monthly.  Optimizer programming currently builds pairings with the duty day not longer than the prior night’s rest.  Many of the complaints the base receives regarding this issue is the first day of the trip.  Optimizer programming does not recognize the prior night’s rest on trip origination. We continue to provide these sequences to Allocations for modification.  Ongoing concerns discussed include lack of high time turns, increase in four-day trips, commutable trips designated primarily to four-day sequences and all-nighter pairings with day layovers with more than one leg per duty day.
