Recognizing the Fourth of July

Today, we recognize the Fourth of July holiday, the day the thirteen American colonies secured their independence from Great Britain. We celebrate our independence and honor our brave servicewomen and men across the country and around the world.

We also recognize that we must continue to work toward a more perfect, equal Nation. An America that affords equal opportunity to all Americans, regardless of the color of their skin, who they worship, where they came from, or who they love.
