VEOP / EVLOA / STLOA Deadline Extended

The deadline to apply for a Voluntary Early Out (VEOP), Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence (EVLOA), or Short-Term Leave of Absence (STLOA) has been extended until Monday, August 17th, at 2359 CDT. We understand that the past few months have been incredibly difficult for numerous reasons, and extending the deadline for these programs is frustrating. We also know that if you might be furloughed, you need to plan your future and take into consideration factors such as outside employment and lease renewals. Not knowing when or if a furlough might take place is stressful.

The Company’s decision to extend the deadline for VEOPs, EVLOAs, and STLOAs was determined by one critical factor: the uncertainty surrounding the extension of the aviation Payroll Support Program (PSP). If Congress passes a bill which includes a clean extension of the PSP, no Flight Attendant will be involuntarily furloughed through March 31, 2021.

An extension of the PSP will keep all Flight Attendants connected to their pay and health benefits through March 31, 2021, and out of the unemployment lines while the airlines navigate the steep drop-off in customer demand. A six-month extension of the PSP gives time for customer demand to significantly improve and to prevent involuntary job loss. We are hopeful that Congress will pass a bill in the coming days so that all Flight Attendants have the information necessary to make the best decision with regards to the voluntary options being offered.

Aviation Unions have led this charge, and we have the entire aviation community behind us. We have all worked so hard to secure support in the House, Senate, and White House. We need our leaders back at the negotiating table to pass a bill that includes an extension of the Payroll Support Program.

Congress listens to their constituents. Call every day. Tie up the phone lines. We hear everywhere on Capitol Hill that your calls are working! We can get this done if we keep up the pressure.

Hi, I am an American Airlines Flight Attendant, an APFA Union member, and your constituent. My job is at risk. Congress agrees that the extension of the aviation Payroll Support Program is necessary, but we cannot get it extended unless Congressional leaders negotiate and pass a stimulus bill immediately.

This program has been my lifeline, but if Congress does not extend the Payroll Support Program now, US aviation workers like me will lose their jobs on October 1st.

The entire US aviation community is standing together to support a clean extension of the Payroll Support Program, but we must act quickly.
