Remembering the Victims of the
Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001

Today marks the nineteenth anniversary of the tragic 9/11 attacks that changed our lives and history forever. Overall, the terrorist attacks resulted in at least 2,977 fatalities and over 25,000 injuries. Every day we remember the bravery of the twenty-five Flight Attendants and eight Pilots on board the four airplanes. They are our heroes.

Today we are known as First Responders and Essential Workers; a much different description of our profession from the days of stewardesses and stewards. Let us all take a moment of silence to pay tribute and honor our colleagues, friends, and loved ones. It is important to always remain vigilant, and most importantly never forget!

“On this nineteenth anniversary of the attacks on our nation on September 11th, let us not forget the bravery of our very own Flight Attendant colleagues that day,” said APFA National President Julie Hedrick. “Today, we remember American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 93. These four flights changed our lives and our industry forever. APFA honors our fallen Flight Attendant heroes. 9/11 changed our lives and the definition of our careers forever. Protecting the safety and security of our passengers is the ultimate goal of a Flight Attendant. Flight Attendants paid the ultimate price as the initial First Responders on September 11, 2001.”
