Presidential Election Update

APFA would like to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the 2020 Presidential election ushers in a new Administration. The entire country is now counting on them. While there will be lawsuits and recounts, we anticipate President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn into the highest offices on January 20, 2021. It is time to start reuniting the country to tackle the very tough issues facing the United States.

As we reflect on this historic election, including our nation’s first Black, South Asian, and female Vice President, we acknowledge that some APFA members may be disappointed by the results. We must all pull together and pledge to take the first steps in uniting our country through our respect for one another.

“APFA has always supported labor-friendly, pro-Union candidates that understand and respect the importance of unionization and collective bargaining rights throughout the country. We are encouraged by today’s news and look forward to getting back to work in Washington to produce real results for our members,” said APFA National President Julie Hedrick. “We have thousands of Flight Attendants out of work and losing access to healthcare amidst a worsening pandemic. We will continue to lock arms with Unions across the industry for immediate relief for our members and ensure our collective bargaining agreement is secure. We are confident that President-elect Biden shares our vision, and we look forward to productive, bi-partisan conversations to obtain real relief for airline employees, and all Americans who are suffering.”

APFA will continue to fight for working men and women. We will continue to press to extend the Payroll Support Program as soon as possible. We look forward to working with the new Administration and the 117th Congress to advance the Flight Attendant profession.
