6.04.21 – In Memoriam: Joann Donovan and Greg Hildreth

With great sadness, we inform you of the passing of two former APFA National Officers, Joann Donovan and Greg Hildreth.

Former APFA National President Joann Donovan passed on May 26, 2021. On March 1, 1968, Joann joined American Airlines as a Flight Attendant and worked at American Airlines until her retirement in October 2003. During that time, she worked as a Flight Attendant, recruiter, and in development and training. Joann was active in both the Transport Workers Union and APFA. Her Union activity included work as a National Scheduling Chair, an elected Negotiator for several contracts, Division Representative (now referred to as Regional Representative), and ultimately as President of APFA from 1984 to 1986.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Joann.

Former APFA National Secretary Greg Hildreth passed unexpectedly on May 30, 2021, due to complications resulting from COVID-19. Greg was 57 and was still an active Flight Attendant with American based in Dallas/Ft. Worth. During his career, Greg was involved within APFA, serving as a Base Council Representative, Regional Representative, DFW Base Vice President, DFW Base President, and APFA National Secretary from 2004-2008.

He was an incredible Union advocate that worked tirelessly for Flight Attendants and the profession. We are all better in some way for knowing him, be it his caring demeanor or goal of making the profession better. He had that amazing smile that made you feel comfortable. Losing Greg will leave a hole in the hearts of the many people he touched.”
