KCM Violations on the Rise

The Known Crewmember (KCM) program is dependent upon crewmembers demonstrating that we can be trusted to comply with all KCM requirements. We were recently made aware of a significant spike in the number of KCM violations. A complete list of KCM Rules may be found on Knowncrewmember.org.

Here are a few reminders:

Please remember that KCM usage for personal international travel is strictly prohibited. If any portion of your travel contains an international leg, the entire itinerary is considered international and therefore you cannot use a KCM portal. For example, you are flying from BNA to JFK and then continuing to LHR. You would not be permitted to use KCM in BNA for the first leg of your trip.

Also, if you are not in uniform and are selected for additional screening at the KCM checkpoint, you may not change into your uniform before proceeding to the TSA checkpoint area. Crewmembers not in uniform are not allowed LAGs exemptions and other exemptions applicable to uniformed flight crewmembers. Crewmembers not in uniform and randomly selected at KCM for extra screening will be required to comply with the 3-1-1 policy per TSA guidelines.

Additionally, please be mindful of the fact that random selections for additional screening are computer generated. The TSA officers monitoring KCM checkpoints are just informing you of the selection, so please be kind in your interactions with them.

If you feel that you are being treated unfairly by a TSA officer, please email [email protected] with the officer’s name, date, time, location, and details and our department will ensure that the incident is investigated.

KCM access is a privilege, not a right. Any failure to abide by the rules could result in suspension of your access. Each KCM violation jeopardizes the continuation of the program for all crewmember participants.
