**Known Crewmember (KCM) Secondary Screening Changes**

Over the past two and a half years, the TSA has continued to see a steady increase in KCM compliance violations. Specific violations include, but are not limited to:

• Prohibited Items: TSA has identified numerous prohibited items, such as a significant number of loaded firearms found during secondary screening.
• Taking someone else’s property through KCM: TSA reports some crewmembers have brought another person’s property through KCM access points. KCM is for the crewmember and their personal property only.
• Personal International Travel: TSA continues to observe and investigate cases of crewmembers using KCM while on personal travel to international locations. KCM regulations explicitly prohibits use for personal international travel.

As a result of these specific violations and others, the TSA will have additional Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Transportation Security Inspectors (TSIs) questioning or reminding crewmembers the KCM regulations, in addition to adjusting the rate of crewmembers who are randomly selected for physical screening. In addition, the TSA will issue civil penalties and possibly permanent KCM suspension for egregious or repeat offenders.
We ask that you please maintain your professionalism at the KCM checkpoints, remain vigilant and comply with the KCM regulations. Given the increasing number of violations we are experiencing, it is imperative that you read, familiarize yourself, and abide by the KCM Program Rules.

If you are unsure of what items you can or cannot bring through the secured area, check the Prohibited Items List on the TSA website.

The only exemption we are allowed while in uniform is from the 3-1-1 Liquids, Aerosols, Gels rule. If items are prohibited for passengers, those items are also prohibited for us.
