5.28.23 – LGA TTS Failure

LGA TTS Failure

Sunday, May 28, 2023

As I communicated this morning via MailChimp, the May 27th, 2023, TTS bid run did not successfully award trips originating in the contractual month of June. As far as we know, trips originating in the contractual month of May were processed as scheduled. LGA was the only affected base, and I assure you that management will be held responsible for answers and a speedy resolution to protect affected flight attendants.

Here is our information as of this base brief, including the already resolved portions of this glitch.

TTS did process for LGA last night during the contractual processing timeline, but the glitch occurred when the results were not uploaded into FOS/DECS, which is necessary for it to reflect on each Flight Attendant’s schedule. For those unfamiliar with FOS/DECS, this is a computer system that has been in use since prior to FOI. FOS continues to be used in conjunction with the scheduling tools that have been introduced with implementation of the JCBA.

Today at approximately 1600 HBT, the company uploaded the results of the June TTS run to correct the glitch. If you were awarded in the run from last night, any drops, trades, and/or pick-ups should now have been processed on your schedule and reflected for you to see.

The company has informed us that a few Flight Attendants could not have their specific transactions processed because of conflicting ETB activity after the TTS freeze ended at 0400 this morning. The company will inform the affected Flight Attendants and assist with their options to be made whole.

There is no question that this is now an epic failure of the bidding systems for Flight Attendants of one of the largest airlines in the world, and it is not just unacceptable, but a reflection of many poorly managed tools Flight Attendants need to do our jobs. The impact is directly on our quality of work life which makes our case stronger than ever for a contract that ensures functioning scheduling systems with protections that do not put the burden of resolving company errors on us. Another scheduling glitch is another reason we need all hands on deck to secure a contract that incorporates fair wages and fair work rules that also mean working scheduling systems. As your local base president, I remain committed to working with our national team on accountability and whatever is legally necessary to protect Flight Attendants and our contract.

Please know that I hear you and fully understand how this impacts our work lives. If you have any questions about your TTS award from last night, don’t hesitate to contact us so we can investigate. We always invite you to bring forward concerns by submitting a Scheduling System Issues Report Form on the APFA website.

Please fly safe, and stay unified, now more than ever.
