9.04.23 – APFA ORD Base Brief – October 2023 Staffing and Allocations
October 2023 ORD Staffing and Allocations
Monday, September 4, 2023
We want to start with THANK YOU to Chicago for the AMAZING turnout for our Strike Authorization Vote! This vote was an astounding show of unity, which should help to reignite everyone’s faith in our collective bargaining power!
99.47% should be a fantastic reminder that we are stronger together. This Labor Day holiday should have special significance this year for all of us. Â
Staffing
There will be 55 new hires from 3 different classes joining Chicago in October, we are excited to see them! They will be available most of October, so all 55 are considered for our reserve numbers.
The reserve percentage for Chicago is 17.2% vs system average of 18.5%
The expected line average for Chicago at PBS open is expected to be 80.6 vs the system average of 81.0.
Allocations
The percentage of one-day trips is not as high as we would like, and the company has committed to keeping an eye on one-day trips in future months, hopefully with an increase.
The number of ODANs has increased since the pulldown we saw in September. We are grateful for the increase and will keep an eye on how these trips are impacting open time.
October 28th and October 31st have fewer sequence starts per day vs the rest of the month due to a decrease in flying for the Halloween holiday.
