Hello PHL,
Recently, things have been occurring more and more often. We are providing reminders in several areas.
Systemwide Picketing Event – November 16th!
Don’t forget that we have a systemwide picketing event on November 16th at all of our bases. Specific times and locations will be announced as we get closer to the date.
LATE REPORTS
When you sign in for a sequence, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE screenshot the screen stating “You have successfully signed in for sequence XXX” or the NS for the first flight of the trip. (An * will be next to your name if you successfully signed in) When the computer system issues a LR (late report), 1 of these 2 screenshots are accepted to remove the LR. Keep in mind that if Mobile CCI fails, you are required to then use a Company computer to sign in. Leave extra time to walk to a crew room if necessary.
UNABLE TO COMMUTE
If you commute to work by plane, familiarize yourself with JCBA Section 37.I. This section tells you what you must follow and when it qualifies as an UTC (Unable to commute) Note: you must have the paper boarding cards for the flight you are listed on and the flight you have been rolled over to. It is initially coded as a MT (missed trip). Once you present the documentation to the attendance manager, it will be recoded to UTC. You are allowed three UTC’s that are not punitive. The Attendance Managers can be reached at [email protected].
CREW ROOM LUGGAGE STORAGE
For the past several weeks, Inflight has been telling us they are going to clean out the luggage racks in our crew rooms. If your bag does not have an authorized tag, it will be removed. We are not allowed to have trash bags, shopping bags, and any other bag that does not zipper closed. It does not have to be an official Company issued crew bag, but must close completely. This past weekend, the racks were cleaned out. If you have anything that has been removed, please speak to the Duty Managers in the B16 Crew Service Center. (610) 362-4100 or in person behind the glass in the B16 crew room.
DUES DUES DUES
Alert letters continue to be mailed to Flight Attendants with an outstanding dues balance. Please go to apfa.org, login, and check your balance! If you do have a balance, you can pay right online with a credit card or bank account. (JCBA Section 35.F) We are getting closer and closer to reaching a tentative agreement and want everyone to be able to vote. If you are not in good standing because of a dues balance, you will not be able to vote. If your balance is more than you can manage, payments plans may be arranged. More information and options for becoming dues current may be found in this June 2023 hotline from our National Treasurer, Erik Harris.
CONVERSATIONS WITH INFLIGHT
We continue to ask that you memorialize your phone conversations with Management with follow up emails confirming what you spoke about. That paper trail is crucial when we need to resolve issues. When trying to reach your Manager, email is always encouraged so again, you have a paper trail indicating that you were trying to get in contact with them.
MARCH ON THE BOSS AND FALL BOARD MEETING
Last week we MARCHED ON THE BOSS! The Board approved a vote of no confidence in Senior Inflight Vice President Brady Byrnes, and last Wednesday we delivered the message to Mr. Byrnes loud and clear. Please read this hotlinefor more information.
We also participated in the Fall board Meeting. Many important issues were discussed: Confidentiality, Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Flight Attendant Safety, Attendance Managers and Attendance Points, and Foreign Language Speakers, to name a few. Minutes for this meeting will be published to the APFA website no later than thirty (30) business days after the conclusion of the meeting per Policy Manual Section 4.A.7.b.(3).
PHL UNION SPACE
We have Union space near the A17 Crew Room. Typically, a representative is there M-F unless we are representing Flight Attendants in the B Inflight Office or Attendance Offices. If you need Union pins, have questions, or just want to visit, we encourage you to stop by. When you exit the elevator at A17 turn right, then left, and we are in the corner room straight ahead. (215) 360-3115.
Please continue to wear your red shirts, red lanyards, bag tags, and red WAR pins until we get the industry leading contract we deserve!
PHL Strong! PHL Proud!
