2.18.24 – Historic Show of Solidarity: Flight Attendant Worldwide Day of Action

Sunday, February 18, 2024

Last Tuesday, Flight Attendants across unions and airlines stood shoulder to shoulder in the first-ever industry-wide Day of Action.

Our message at American is clear: Management must bring significant wage increases that meet the needs of Flight Attendants. We’ve seen our management reward themselves with incentives and bonuses. Other airline employee groups secured significant wage gains at contract signing. It’s our turn. Close out this contract, or we will strike.

At 30+ airports in the U.S., U.K., and Guam, Flight Attendants across unions and airlines conveyed a message. We are first responders committed to the safety and well-being of the traveling public. We are working longer hours with shorter layovers and spending more time away from family. The time for airline management to get serious at the negotiating table is long overdue.

Thousands of Flight Attendants showed up for Tuesday’s Day of Action. We enjoyed incredible support from unions across industries and occupations. Leaders from all levels of our government showed up on the picket line in support of our fight. Thank you to everyone who made our first union-wide day of action a resounding success.

Flight Attendants industry-wide have come together to reject the status quo. The current economic Flight Attendant framework agreed to by airline CEOs does not work for us. We stand in solidarity with our union counterparts to raise the bar for our industry.

Airline CEOs work to keep our wages low. We reject that sentiment. Stay tuned for more action items as we work to raise the bar for Flight Attendants everywhere.
